President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni commended the people of Koboko District for their remarkable progress in wealth creation and infrastructure development, describing the area as a shining example of the NRM government’s steady gains in the West Nile region.

PDM Lifting Thousands Out of Subsistence
The President revealed that under the Parish Development Model (PDM), Koboko District has received Shs 18.2 billion, supporting more than 18,000 households in transitioning from subsistence farming to the money economy.
He said the program is helping families create reliable income streams, improve food security, and actively participate in Uganda’s broader economic growth.
“Koboko’s transformation is proof of the NRM’s steady gains, building peace, expanding opportunity, and ensuring that every household can participate in Uganda’s growth,” President Museveni said.
Infrastructure Expanding Across the District
President Museveni noted that access to safe water in Koboko has now reached 79% of villages, and the ongoing extension of electricity is powering homes, schools, and businesses across the district.
He emphasized that such investments are part of the government’s deliberate effort to support production and improve living standards in rural areas.

Education Sector Growing Stronger
On education, Museveni reported that Koboko now boasts 59 government primary schools and 6 government secondary schools, with two new Seed Schools under construction to ensure every sub-county has a government secondary school.
He said education remains central to NRM’s social transformation agenda, calling on parents to prioritize sending their children to school and to make use of the available government programs to improve household income.
Unity and Peace at the Core of Progress
Accompanied by First Lady Maama Janet Museveni, the President thanked the people of Koboko for their overwhelming welcome, describing their unity as the foundation of development and national peace.
Koboko, a key trade hub bordering South Sudan and DRC, has become one of the fastest-growing districts in the West Nile region, benefiting from NRM’s focus on border-area infrastructure, electrification, and local enterprise development.
