President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has hailed Yumbe District for its impressive progress in household income transformation and service delivery, saying the government’s wealth creation programs are yielding visible results across West Nile.
Addressing thousands of residents during his visit to Yumbe, the President said the Parish Development Model (PDM) has delivered real impact, with nearly Shs 60 billion disbursed to help families join the money economy.
“The PDM program has already delivered nearly Shs 60 billion in Yumbe to households, helping families enter the money economy. In the next phase, we will enhance fund delivery for faster disbursement and better supervision,” Museveni said.

According to district data, Yumbe has 153,061 households, of which 58,334 have benefited from PDM support, representing 97.2% disbursement efficiency. The President added that such initiatives are central to NRM’s vision of prosperity for all.
Model Farm and Industrial Park Planned
Museveni revealed that the government will soon establish a model farm in Yumbe, which will demonstrate modern agricultural techniques and provide seedlings for cocoa, coffee, and fruit production.
“I appreciate the generosity of the people of Yumbe in providing land for this model farm. It will help eliminate poverty and foster wealth creation in our communities,” he said.
He also announced plans for an Industrial Park in Yumbe, designed to create jobs and promote local industry, further stimulating the district’s economy.

Education and Skilling
In the education sector, Yumbe currently boasts 143 government primary schools, 10 government secondary schools, and six new seed schools under development, with three already under construction in Kerwa, Drajini, and Ladonga sub-counties.
Museveni reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring free and quality education for all, noting that Presidential Industrial Skilling Hubs will complement UPE and USE programs with practical skills training for youth.
Health and Infrastructure
The President commended ongoing work at Yumbe Regional Referral Hospital, which is being expanded with new wards, staff houses, and a 300-bed facility.
Additionally, the government plans to upgrade smaller health centers in sub-counties such as Mongoyo, Aliapi, Aria, and Wandi to ensure that every community has access to quality healthcare.
On water access, Museveni noted that safe water coverage has reached 77% of villages, with ongoing projects under the Ala-Ora piped water system expected to extend clean water to more rural communities.
In his closing message, Museveni said Yumbe’s development is proof of NRM’s steady leadership and the importance of unity.
“Yumbe’s progress is a tangible result of the NRM’s efforts against poverty and inequality. True Uzalendo means unity and cooperation for the benefit of all Ugandans,” he said.
The President’s visit to Yumbe is part of his nationwide wealth creation mobilization tour in the West Nile sub-region.
