President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has praised the people of Arua for their continued support and for embracing government programs that are transforming lives under the NRM’s development agenda.
During his visit to the West Nile sub-region, the President was received by thousands of jubilant supporters who turned up in Arua City and Arua District to welcome him.
Progress in Education
President Museveni noted with satisfaction the remarkable progress made in the education sector in Arua.
“In Arua District and Arua City, there are a total of 120 government primary schools, with 50 in the district and 70 in the city. Additionally, Arua District has 7 government secondary schools, while Arua City has 9,” he said.
He added that this progress is a testament to NRM’s long-standing investment in education and its focus on human capital development.
“For someone who has been here for a long time, seeing this progress makes me very happy,” he added.

Health Sector Upgrades Planned
The President announced plans to improve health service delivery in the next government term, with two key projects already earmarked for Arua.
“Our plan in the next government is to upgrade Orivu Health Center III to a Health Center IV in Ayivu Division East, and to upgrade Lazebu Health Center II to a Health Center III in Arivu Sub-county,” he revealed.
Currently, only Arivu Sub-county lacks a major health facility, and the upgrades are expected to close this gap and improve access to quality healthcare.

Focus on Household Wealth
President Museveni emphasized that true national development begins with wealth creation at the household level.
“If you have no income in your home, you create problems not only for your family but also for the country. The government receives taxes from what people buy. When you have no money, you are not contributing to your family or your nation,” he said.
He urged residents of Arua and the entire West Nile region to take advantage of government programs, such as the Parish Development Model, to increase their incomes and move away from subsistence production.
“I therefore urge everyone to be active in wealth creation and ask that you support NRM to continue the battle against poverty,” the President said.

Parish Development Model Impact
According to the latest figures, Arua District and Arua City have collectively received over Shs 26.5 billion under the Parish Development Model, benefiting more than 26,000 households.
With continued implementation, the program is expected to lift thousands of families from the subsistence economy and improve household incomes across the region.
The President’s visit to Arua follows similar engagements in Zombo and Oyam, where he emphasized peace, unity, and economic transformation as the pillars of Uganda’s progress.
